Bloomsbury Square

The oldest of the Bloomsbury squares, the Earl of Southampton, who owned the land, laid it out in 1661.

The area has had many famous residents including novelist Virginia Woolf, biographer Lutton Strachey and artists Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant and Dora Carrington. You can find name plaques throughout the area.
