King's Road

The King's Road cuts right through the heart of Chelsea ending up several miles downstream in Fulham as the New King's Road. It was originally a rough track used by King Charles II as a private thoroughfare linking Whitehall with Hampton Court.

Until 1830, the road remained private, but by the late 19th century it had become a commercial street. Since the 1960's and 1970's it has become synonymous with cutting-edge fashion.

Today the Kings Road is still flanked by expensive designer boutiques, antique shops, high street stores and exclusive eateries.
