Four miles from Westminster in the heart of London, the Wetland Centre is unique in being the first created wetland habitat to have been developed in any capital city throughout the world.
Built on the site of the former Victorian Barn Elms reservoirs, the 105 acre area has been transformed into an impressively diverse urban wetland reserve and visitor attraction that is home to a wealth of wildlife.
Extensive exhibit areas, hands on discovery zones, sustainable gardens, audio-visual extravaganza and stunning observatories, towers and hides complement the lakes, ponds, marshes and reed beds and provide close-up access to water-loving birds, mammals and insects from across Britain and around the world.
